Scotland’s International Social Enterprise Observatory isn’t just about increasing the trading capacity of social enterprises in Scotland, it’s also focused on global citizenship. As a good global citizen, Scotland plays an important role in promoting international stability, human rights, fairness and equality.
The International Social Enterprise Observatory regards social enterprise to be a more inclusive, empowering and sustainable way of delivering on Scotland’s international development goals. As such, we will work with the Scottish Government and other partners to actively promote a social enterprise approach in contributing to the global fight against poverty, through Scotland’s collaboration with Malawi and initiatives elsewhere in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
We also support social enterprises in Scotland whose beneficiaries are located internationally. Find out more about these organisations and the work they do below.
Domestically, the Observatory is encouraging greater social enterprise involvement in Fair Trade initiatives as another way of supporting our partnership with developing nations.
Our partner, Challenges Group is a Scottish organisation focused on growing social enterprise in emerging economies. Their work is highly innovative and impactful.
